That’s a fair question. I don’t think knowledge itself is terrible, it’s the loss of discernment that comes with it that worries me. When everything is knowable truth stops feeling valuable. The solution if there is one, isn’t less knowledge but deeper attention, learning how to tell what matters from what only distracts.
Meaning behind the facts. Purpose. How is the knowledge used... Value. What is the point of all these fact. How do they advance us as humans?
I'm a real of Peter H Diamandis [Moonshots Podcast] concept of Abundance... That's post singularity, AGI when we have basically solved everything. Well, that's when things like Value, Purpose and Meaning become very important to help people avoid hedonism and degeneracy
I'm obviously being a little irreverent with you guys!
I fully appreciate your position and I can totally understand why you hold such a belief.
It's just that I am totally of the opinion that the greatest among us will figure it out in due course!
Why do I believe that to be the case?
Well, in short, we have encountered similar truly existential threats throughout our history and we have always managed as a species to find our way to the other side
Correct. Being freed from social norms or personal beliefs can sometimes be an illusion of imprisonment. One must not confuse the two — truly living and merely existing are often mistaken for the same thing.
In prison, it’s different — you’re physically confined. The real battle there is freeing your mind and not letting it suffer the same toll as your body. Check out Man’s Search for Meaning by Viktor E. Frankl — it captures that struggle perfectly.
As always, what is too much becomes unbearable . become the cancer itself. Humanity seems to forgot the balance, the middle point.
Balance is the key to everything in life, one who finds balance will find peace along the way.
The uneducated cannot handle the truth and seem to get refuge through ignorance. Its a lot easier and less work.
Well stated, I do believe it is still possible for the majority to educate themselves and wake up to the truth.
As do I
I agree with your point
OK so if unlimited knowledge is so all encompassing terrible, what wondrous solution do you espouse?
I am genuinely intrigued...

I actually think we have a lot more common ground with our viewpoints than we have differences...
I think that what you term truth has never been simply about facts or data points and has always been a much more elusive animal!
Data points are only one facet of that which constitutes truth...
Perhaps when you say truth, you are really driving at concepts like meaning, purpose and value?
But I would agree with your assertion that us knowing everything will only get us so far
That’s not a bad point, however if truth isn’t facts based then what is truth? A wise man once said words talk, numbers scream.
I only said Facts aren't the whole story as regards truth. Hope that is clearer
So what else other than facts?
Meaning behind the facts. Purpose. How is the knowledge used... Value. What is the point of all these fact. How do they advance us as humans?

Being freed can be an illusion of
imprisonment, stay focused and humble.
Thanks Jorge, very well stated! The ability to stay humble is worth its weight in gold.

Right! Much better to actually be in prison then?
I don’t think he meant it literally.

May I recommend you Maya Angelou - I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings... similar themes of framing, mindset and overcoming extreme adversity
Great recommendation!
Thanks for sharing and very well stated Jorge!
