This isn’t intelligence.
It looks like it.
It sounds like it.
It performs well enough that most people stop asking questions.
AI now produces answers instantly. Clean explanations. Confident reasoning. No hesitation. No struggle. No visible uncertainty.
That smoothness feels like progress.
But intelligence used to reveal itself differently. Through pauses. Through mistakes. Through people explaining why something worked, not just stating that it did.
AI normalized something else.
Fluency without understanding.
Confidence without ownership.
Answers without visible thinking.
Nothing broke overnight. Nothing failed dramatically.
The signals just changed.
