Most people still believe public opinion emerges from millions of independent minds. That belief is becoming outdated.

When AI systems decide which views are amplified, which are buried, and which feel common, opinion stops being discovered. It starts being manufactured.

And once that happens, disagreement does not disappear. It just becomes invisible.
